<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p>Our client, a leading-edge, retail giant with locations across Canada, is currently recruiting a seasoned Assistant Payroll Manager to join and lead their team. </p><p>Please note that this is an in-office position. </p><p><strong>Duties: </strong></p><ul><li>Lead, mentor and support a busy team of payroll administrators, demonstrating strong team-building and motivational skills</li><li>Audit and Balance payroll prior to processing</li><li>Complete full-cycle biweekly payroll processing for commission, salary and hourly employees (90000 + employees bi-weekly)</li><li>Maintain time & attendance tracking system</li><li>Issue ROEs and prepare payroll reports as requested</li><li>Respond to payroll inquiries from retail locations with urgency and be a solution provider</li><li>Be a competent collaborator and skilled cross-functional communicator; working closely with retail locations and other areas within the organization</li><li>Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices</li><li>Be accountable for the quality of work performed</li><li>Some accounting is required</li><li>Assist with other payroll duties, as assigned</li></ul><p><strong>Experience Required:</strong></p><ul><li>Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing and payroll control plus 5+ years in Supervisory capacity</li><li>2-5 years of high volume retail and payroll experience (processing payroll for 500+ employees weekly)</li><li>Experience with multi-province ESA</li><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail</li><li>Strong Analytical, problem-solving and planning skills</li><li>Must have a roll-up-the-sleeve work ethic and be comfortable with rapid change</li><li>Knowledge of ADP, Kronos and Workforce Now (WFN) preferred</li><li>Knowledge of current provincial and federal employment rules and regulations</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li></ul><ul><li>Skilled in preparing detailed reports, as well as evaluating and analyzing technical payroll activities</li><li>Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data manipulation and analysis</li><li>Ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee personnel files</li><li>Exceptional organizational and time-management skills required</li><li>Must display a positive attitude, be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities</li><li>Achievement-oriented; ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure, be flexible without sacrificing detail and adapt to changing priorities</li><li>Self-starter and team player with strong leadership skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision</li><li>Ability to interpret, implement and adhere to organizational policies and procedures</li><li>Knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of process improvement</li></ul><p><strong>Education:</strong></p><ul><li>Payroll, Accounting, Human Resources, or related fields required.</li><li>Must have CPM or working towards</li><li>Bilingual French preferred</li></ul></p></p>Browse Jobs in Canada by City
