Traction Motor Lead Engineer

Job Description

<h3>Job Duties and Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Develop product design proposals to meet customer specifications and test requirements</li>
<li>Lead product development and validation activities including: DFMEA, design reviews, drawing and model creation (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), prototype builds, DV/PV testing, NVH verification, design for manufacturing, stack-ups, and key supplier development</li>
<li>Develop and maintain prototype and test validation plans (DVP&R) to meet key customer program milestones</li>
<li>Lead and assist root cause analysis of technical issues</li>
<li>Support Advanced Program Quality Planning (APQP) activities</li>
<li>Develop and support cost savings initiatives and proposals</li>
<li>Ensure design reviews are completed as planned to support a gated program management process</li>
<li>Provide technical support to customers during all phases of vehicle development including pre-sourcing, vehicle validation, product validation, vehicle start of production (SOP), and post-SOP</li>
<li>Prepare and conduct technical presentations (Customer and Dana internal)</li>
<li>Analyze test data to verify conformance to requirements and establish action plans as needed</li>
<li>Analyze warranty data and develop effective counter measures</li>
<li>Propose and critique design concepts for cost savings initiatives</li>
<li>Utilize the resources of the various support groups to provide an optimized design which can be manufactured economically and according to the project timing requirements</li>
<li>Communicate all engineering and development issues as needed to Dana internal functions including but not limited to; Engineering Project Management, Program Management, Quality, Warranty, & Engineering Management</li>
</ul>
<h3>Basic Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5 years of progressive experience in automotive or similar field</li>
<li>Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in design / development of electrification products</li>
<li>Knowledge of the automotive electrification sector</li>
<li>Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills</li>
<li>Effective listener and communicator</li>
<li>Proficient technical skills Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Excel, Project</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to be proactive and forward thinking</li>
<li>Able to effectively interface with other disciplines in the organization to achieve results</li>
<li>Excellent mechanical aptitude, along with strong analytical capability</li>
<li>Understanding of and/or experience using CAE tools including: ABAQUS/ANSYS/FESAFE</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience leading APQP, DVP&R, and DFMEA activities</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of GD&T and ability to understand prints / stack-ups</li>
<li>Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside of Dana in a professional manner</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to organize multiple responsibilities and meet multiple deadlines</li>
<li>Must be a self-directed, motivated, and organized individual who is willing to accept responsibility</li>
<li>Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills</li>
<li>Must be able to travel domestically and internationally</li>
