At the heart of our mission is helping people live healthier lives while safeguarding the planet’s resources. </p><p><strong>THE OPPORTUNITY</strong></p><p>The Controller (6-Month Contract, with Possibility of Extension) plays a key role in overseeing the finance function for JY Care’s group of companies. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a hands-on role that blends day-to-day accounting with financial leadership.</p><p>This is a unique opportunity for an experienced finance professional with manufacturing or product-based experience who can roll up their sleeves and ensure accuracy in the details, while also advising the CEO on cash flow, margins, and decision-making.</p><p><strong>POSITION DESCRIPTION</strong></p><p>Reporting to the CEO, the Controller is responsible for:</p><p>Financial Operations & Reporting</p><ul><li>Manage month-end close and prepare consolidated financial statements.</li><li>Maintain general ledger accuracy; reconcile accounts and oversee AP/AR processes.</li><li>Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and gross margins.</li><li>Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting; track budget vs. actual performance</li><li>Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital.</li><li>Provide accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to the CEO.</li></ul><p> Compliance & Taxation</p><ul><li>Prepare and file corporate tax returns and GST/HST returns.</li><li>Coordinate the year-end close process and collaborate with external accountants on SR&ED, review, and compilation engagements.</li><li>Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.</li></ul><p> Strategic Support & Process improvement </p><ul><li>Identify and evaluate government grants, incentives, and funding opportunities to support business initiatives.</li><li>Recommend process improvements and strengthen internal controls.</li></ul><p> Team Leadership</p><ul><li>Mentor, coach, and support junior staff.</li><li>Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>CPA designation (or equivalent) required.</li><li>5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in manufacturing or a multi-entity environment.</li><li>Hands-on accounting skills: able to manage close, reconciliations, and reporting with limited support.</li><li>Strong technical knowledge of ASPE, corporate tax, and GST/HST.</li><li>Proven experience in budgeting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.</li><li>Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with NetSuite.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and present effectively to executives.</li><li>Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul><p>Core competencies:</p><ul><li><strong>Financial Leadership:</strong> Strong ability to oversee multi-entity financial operations and provide clear insights.</li><li><strong>Technical Expertise:</strong> Deep knowledge of ASPE, tax, and compliance requirements.</li><li><strong>Analytical Skills: </strong>Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.</li><li><strong>Adaptability: </strong>Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, balancing detailed accounting and executive discussions.</li><li><strong>Collaboration: </strong>Works cross-functionally with other departments. </li><li><strong>Initiative: </strong>Proactive problem-solver who can operate independently.</li><li><strong>Communication & Mentorship: </strong>Ability to lead and support junior staff while presenting effectively to executives.</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>At JY Care, you’ll be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team dedicated to developing innovative, sustainable health and wellness products.
