In this role, you&#39;ll be more than just a visible presence. You will be a trusted guardian of safety and a key contributor to a welcoming, inclusive campus environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are approachable, dependable, and passionate about supporting students, faculty, and staff. As part of a collaborative campus team, you&#39;ll conduct patrols, respond to incidents, and build positive relationships, playing a vital role in fostering community safety and student success.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Conduct proactive safety and security patrols of university buildings, grounds, and surrounding areas, including parking lots.</li><li>Serve as a positive and approachable presence to students, faculty, staff, and the public.</li><li>Provide safe walks and escorts upon request.</li><li>Respond to incidents and service requests with professionalism and care.</li><li>Enforce campus policies in a respectful and inclusive manner, supporting the institution&#39;s values.</li><li>Assist with emergencies including evacuations, lockdowns, or shelter-in-place situations as directed.</li><li>Communicate with law enforcement or emergency responders when needed.</li><li>Participate in drills, safety checks, and emergency management duties.</li><li>Write accurate reports and maintain daily shift logs using approved tools.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Valid BC Security License</li><li>Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA2 / Intermediate First Aid)</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills</li><li>Minimum 2 years of security or customer-facing experience, preferably in an educational or public service setting</li><li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team</li><li>Physically fit and capable of walking, climbing stairs, and being on-foot for extended periods</li><li>Basic computer skills required/ advanced computer skills preferred</li><li>Strong communicator with assertive interpersonal skills, sensitivity and team player are critical to success</li></ul><p><strong>Who we are:</strong></p><p>At Westguard we believe in living and acting by our values: <strong>R.E.A.C.H.</strong></p><p><strong>Respect · Empathy · Accountability · Courtesy & · Honesty</strong></p><p>We&#39;re in the business of making people feel safe.
